aloha & mele kalikimaka!

just wanted to wish everyone a very merry christmas! i was lucky to have spent part of my winter break in honolulu this year. the trip didn't start out too well as my flight was delayed for three hours. i was sleeping in the aiport until 5:30 in the morning, when we were finally cleared for take off. thanks to generous hosts joy and anselm, i got to stay at one of hawaii's finest hotels. i loved the breakfast every morning, just couldn't get enough of the fresh pineapples and papaya! the trip was short, but we made time to try many local restaurants. one of my favorites was our stop to matsumoto's in north shore. they have the best shaved ice ever! only if i can eat that everyday...i hope i can live in hawaii one of these days. happy holidays!

hello kitty christmas tree

last week, i went to home depot to buy this christmas tree. i think it is a douglas fir. can you believe that i actully brought this home in the back of my trunk? the hard part was not transporting it home, it was a workout trying to put this tree on a stand! i love the smell of fresh christmas trees. since i have my own place now, i have decided to purchase a fresh tree every year. i decided to get some new ornaments this year. check out the pictures.

what i'm thankful for

for thanksgiving this year, i got a chance to have three turkey meals. the first meal was a joy's. she ordered a turkey breast from marie callendar's. joy made some cream corn to eat with our feast and it was delicious! i'm so glad ken joined us. too bad pearl couldn't make it. on friday, joy's mom-in-law bought a turkey from a taiwanese restaurant. the best part about this turkey was the stuffed sticky rice! and on saturday, mom & dad also ordered a turkey from a chinese restaurant, but by this 3rd day, i couldn't have anymore turkey. i don't want anymore turkey until next thanksgiving! however, i am thankful for having so many homes to go to for the holidays. i am thankful that at this time when a lot of people are being laid off, i still have my job and that i actually have three places i can call home. here are my favorite pictures from the holiday weekend. (notice the before and after hair cut).
