127 degrees!?!?!?

it's been awhile since i posted something. i almost forgot how to log-on and create a new post. sorry for the time off. for the past few months, i've been doing a lot of traveling, mostly to ca. last month, p got married in virginia and i took a week off to travel a bit on the east coast. i had the chance to see new york, boston, and dc again! other than the rain in boston, spring is the perfect time to travel to the east coast. and i love being in new york! wish i had more time there. i will post some pictures up soon.

with all this traveling, i have not been home on weekends since the beginning of may. last weekend, i was in ca for 4 days and i knew it was going to get hot in vegas, but was too cheap to leave the air on while i was away. when i got home to turn on the tv, this is the message i got:
i lived in vegas for 8 years now and this has never happened! i was not aware that my satellite dish box can reach the temperature of 127! i called the help desk right away because i couldn't turn on the box and guess what they told me to do? the old fashion way by blowing a fan on it! anyways, after 30 minutes, my box finally cooled down and turned on automatically. i'm glad i didn't loose my 80 hours of recorded shows. the ac is now officially on...let the hot summer begin!

rebels in san jose

during my thanksgiving get together, one of my unlv classmates had a wild idea to take a road trip to northern california. the unlv running rebels were going to play santa clara university and even though none of us are die hard fans, they all wanted to take a 10 hour drive up to santa clara! i decided to use my rapid rewards ticket for a free flight to san jose. i got to stay with janice and huey who just had a baby girl 3 months ago. they were getting used to being parents for the first time and it was great spending time with them! the weather was cold, but we went shopping at santana row, went to the farmer's market in mountain view, and visited cal's rival, stanford university all in one short weekend. i even got out to see UNLV kick santa clara's butt on saturday night!

vegas thanksgiving

for the first time ever, i decided to host thanksgiving at my house this year. i was going to be back in ca for the holiday weekend so i had my friends over the saturday before. in my whole life, i don't think i have ever cooked a meal for this many people, even though it was just a small party of 10. since everyone will be eating turkey the following week, i decided to make pot roast with all the thanksgiving sides. my 1st attempt actually came out pretty good. i used the crock pot and the meat was tender. the juice from the pot roast was perfect for making gravy for my mashed potatoes. for the perfect ending, i even baked two pumpkin pies! here are some pictures from the dinner party.
